Juan Diego Flórez named an honorary citizen of Pesaro

Juan Diego Flórez, a native of Lima, Peru, has been named an honorary citizen of Pesaro, Italy. Mr. Flórez received the honor from Mayor Matteo Ricci, at a ceremony that took place at the City Council Hall. This is a tremendous gesture from the city of Pesaro, which has played an important role in his life and career. He rocketed onto the international scene at the Rossini Opera Festival in 1996 – hosted in Pesaro – when he made his spectacular debut as Corradino in Matilde di Shabran. ‘Il templario’ at the Salzburg Festival

Juan Diego Flórez performs at the Salzburg Festival in the role of Vilfredo d’Ivanhoe in Nicolai’s rarely performed gem of the repertoire, Il templario. The two sold-out concert performances take place August 27 & 30, and feature an international cast of soloists including Clémentine Margaine as Rebecca, and Luca Salsi sings Briano di Bois-Guilbert, with the Wiener Philharmoniker led by Andrés Orozco-Estrada.
